About Carter Ledge:
Large SW facing slab accross the Chocorua Brook drainage from the Mt Chocorua Summit. Reached via the Piper Trail trailhead on NH Rte 16. Longest known direct route is 4 pitches. No fixed pro is found on the crag. Low angle runouts are the rule. Overlaps present potentially higher grades on the main face. The northern end presents much steeper slabs and the potential for sustained climbs above the moderate standard.. |
Approach: | Piper Trail 40min, Nickerson Ledge Trail 10 min, Carter Ledge Trail 5 min to 1st sight of open slabs, 15 min to top. At first sight look for a dip off trail left, enter and take 4 stepss West and look WNW to see open lane in trees, follow, winding down and up but headed WNW to tumbled boulders. Up in boulders and then left along base of slabs. 6-9 mins total off-trail |
