About Lake Umbagog:
|
There is no climbing here, but it is one of the best places to kayak. There are very slow rapids that go out into the lake (watch out for boats-- although there are only a few, when you get towards the town they could still be dangerous). Once you get into the lake, it's huge and there is a lot of wild life, even bald eagles nesting around the lake, a lot of loons and you might even see a bear or a moose. There are some great rapids to jump in, but I wouldn't reccomend that unless you are with sombody who really knows what they are doing. (Jumping in rapids, even small ones, is very dangerous.) A short hike (about a mile, its not really a hike more of walking up a path) brings you to a natural spring to get water from. This is one of the mst beatufull places on earth. I reccamend everyone have a trip here once in there lifetime. |
