Description:

Winter ascent of Boote Spur route on the south flank of Mount Washington. Conditions vary, expect high winds 30-60 mhp and sub-zero temperatures. Route is rarely climbed in the winter so expect deep snow, 3-4 ft. increasing as you approach tree line. Snow above tree line is a mix between hard pack and wind blown drifts. Expect a long day. Take Tuckerman Ravine trail from Pinkhan Notch Visitor Center, take Boote Spur trail up to the Davis Path. From the Davis Path take the Lawn Cut-Off Trail to the Tukerman Ravine trail which leads to the summit.

Descent Options:

Take Lions Head route from base of summit cone to the Tuckerman Ravine Trail, fastest option!
