About Cascade Lakes:
| With it's proximity to Lake Placid and Keene Valley, this area sees a lot of climbing activity. The rock is good and varied, with the popular roadside Pitchoff Chimney Cliff and the scenic Barkeater Cliff being the most interesting of the lot. All tourist town amenities are in Lake Placid. | Directions: | To Barkeater Cliff-Route 73 just uphill from the town of Keene. Drive past the Barkeater Inn to the end of Alstead Hill Road about 2.5 miles beyond.Park at the Adirondak Rock and River Guide Service(lodging if needed).Hike the Jack Rabbit trail for less than a mile to a cairn on the left, just past a wide wooden bridge. The path crosses a brooke and heads uphill to the boulder field. |
