About Crane and Huckleberry Mountains:

Crane Mountain: Almost all trad routes here. Summit Cliffs: 100 meters east of the actual summit are two prows with excellent top-roping, from 5.1 to 5.10. 200 meters west of the summit is the highest section of cliff on that ridge:excellent 5.7 to 5.9 routes of 40-50 meters length. Slanting Cracks Wall holds the best multi-pitch routes (Straits of Fear 5.8 being the cream of the crop as viewed by many); it lies about 3 km from the parking area east and north. The cliff is about 120 meters high.

Huckleberry Mountain: Dozens of excellent routes, about a 40 minute hike from Paintbed Road parking area. From the Hard Guy Wall routes (5.9 -5.11, sport and trad) to the moderate Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (5.7) and other nearby routes are great to explore. From the Anglers parking on Hudson St (not really a street) walk across the bridge and up paintbed brook rd. Take your first left and continue to go left at the next two forks. This will put you on an old road that parallels the cliffs. The first Cliff you see is called Boneyard. From here, keep walking until you are around a beaver pond to get to the Hard Guy Wall area.
Nearest town or city: Warrensburg
Directions: Exit 23 off the Northway I-87, head into Warrensburg and continue north on Rt.9. Left onto Rt. 28 and head to Wevertown. Left on Rt.8. 3.5 km left on South Johnsburg Road. For Huck take a right on Hudson St. and left on Paintbed Brook Road. For Crane continue to Garnet Lake Road (right turn), then take a right up Sky High Road to the trailhead parking.
