About Gore Mountain:
| The tallest mtn. in Warren County and hosting a large ski area, Gore Mtn also holds some good climbing potential. Its hiking route, called the Schaeffer Trail, passes by or close by most of the climbing done thus far. In the summer and fall, the ski gondola runs, offering an easier alternative approach than the long hike from town. Additionally, one of NY's finest leantos sits just minutes from most of the established climbing. |
| Nearest town or city: | North Creek |
| Directions: | From South: Northway exit 23, left to Rt. 9, right on 9, about 3 miles left onto Route 28. About 16 miles, left onto Ski Bowl Road for trailhead, for Gondola Ride (fee): left just before this onto Peaceful Valley Rd. to the Gore Mtn. Ski Resort Road. The climbing is concentrated on the west side of Burnt Ridge, most notably where the Sch. trail dips down into a small depression known as Dave's Cirque; about 5 minutes' walk downhill of the leanto. |
