Take the Tahawus trailhead out of newcomb. It is roughly four miles into indian pass. There are two lean-toos. by pass summit rock, the guide book tells you to get a look at the cliffs from here as it will add 2 hours or so to your approach.heres a little beta to find the base of diaganol. follow the trail into the pass...it basically follows a stream and crosses back and fourth. as you start to gain elevationin the pass, the trail crosses the stream for the last time and heads sharply uphill. the trail will now be on the right or the east side of the pass. at this point stay left of the stream and start to contour the left slope uphill. in the winter you can see the ramp from here, summer in might be hard to see. continue angling up, there is actually little reflective markers on the trees, you may not see them unless it is dark with a headlamp. you will pass a large overhanging buttress on your left after that start to cut uphill a little, and the main face will shortly come into view. it shouldnt take you more than twenty minutes or so to get to this point from the last stream crossing.you wont be able to see the ramp itself but you should be able to make out the features. if you can look at the picture and find the features that corraspond on the cliff you will be fine. the bottom towo pitches to get to the ramp are pretty nebulous. i dont think it matters much where you start but if you start directly under the base of the ramp it will be 2 long 4th class or easy 5th class pitches. from there everything is obvoius. i backed up the rap anchor on top in march with a new piton and new webbing.
