On the East face of Rat Rock climb up the obvious large flake. Using a sidepull and a thin almost-horizontal crack move left to the shelf and topout.
Variation: Instead of topping out, you can continue to traverse left to the end of the shelf, downclimb and then link into one of the lower traverses towards the right and end up where you started. This is one of Yuki's 'circles' or circuit workout.
