Description:

Squeeze up the opening fatty to the dihedral. Layback the dihedral to easier climbing and a belay ledge. The second pitch is easier and fun.

4 out of 5 stars Layback

1st trad lead ever. Chimney start is made easier if you face the crack at the back and make full use of it. 2nd pitch is surprisingly airy. Led pitch 2.

4 out of 5 stars Good way to warm up

If you are not used to off widths or laybacks, this is a sure way to get warmed up...
Strenuous and fun.

5 out of 5 stars Best 5.5 at the Gunks

The first pitch has great variety; led the first, followed the second. The last move of the second pitch is one of the best 5.3 moves anywhere. Great exposure.

4 out of 5 stars Lead P2

Followed Ryan on P1. The Chimney gets easier every time, but felt like it was going to spit me out the first time i lead it. The bottom of the layback takes a #4 Camalot nicely. If you don't go that big, don't worry, you can place a nut or two just a bit lower on the face. Run the layback till it ends, then move over easy ledges to the slings and rings. P2 is definitely worth it, though easier. Bring a camera for a nice photo-op. Saw a snake above the belay station about a month ago.

3 out of 5 stars Layback

First Gunks climb. Really awkward chimney. Turns out its possible to not actually layback the layback, but I wouldnt recommend it.
