About Peterskill:

Single-pitch only. A good place to TR, down the road from the perpetually-crowded Trapps/Nears. Limited passes sold per day.

UPDATE on the tree situation. Depending on which ranger you ask, you'll get one of two answers: 1) no trees whatsoever, or 2) no pitch pines, and other trees only as a back-up - no tension on that anchor leg. They will force you to take ropes off the trees, even if you pad them, if they're an integral part of your anchor.

Also, you'll need a LOT of webbing/static line to sling boulders. Some (a very few) of the routes are top-bolted for anchors, but don't expect that a few pieces of pro and a cordalette is going to suffice for anchor gear - in the lists, "non-bolted TR" can stand for boulders or gear anchors - or any combination thereof.

Similar to the Trapps, there are three different ratings systems of which you need to be aware when climbing at Peterskill: the YDS (5.5, 5.6, etc), the protection rating (G, PG, R, X), and the "M.A." rating - given to routes that are hopelessly sandbagged. "M.A.", of course, stands for "My ASS".
