Description:
Find an obvious wide crack right of RMC. Climb it to a good belay ledge. The second pitch climbs the chimney on the right side of the belay ledge. Excellent beginner climb-one of the best at the Gunks for new leaders.

don't follow the guidebook
Followed this pitch with a leader who was experienced, but just getting back into climbing after a long layoff and at the gunks for the first time. the grey williams guide book says to go left and follow a second chimney after the first chimney (pitch 2). I wouldn't recommend it...there's little gear at the second chimney, and its dirty and less traveled. after reaching the ledge just after the first chimney on P2, just go straight up the face...maybe not a the "official betty" and maybe 5.4-5.5, but so much better.
