Description:
No Picnic is a nice one pitch route between 69 and Sudoriferous, uphill and left from the Herdie Gertie block. Starts on a slab below a short left facing corner. Above the corner, pull over a small roof and continue up steep face climbing to a tree with a rap sling and the top. I think this is the hardest 4 at the Gunks - felt much harder than Sixish even, but it is fun and protects well. Rated 5.5 in the Grey Dick.

Finally, I ticked the lead on this one. Have followed it/Tr'd it maybe 5 times by now. Funnily, it felt much easier, and the crux seemed to be a lot less of a sequence, on the lead.

finally got around to leading this.
led this at dusk with Liz seconding. it is a really nice, fun climb and i think a great climb for new 5.5 leader. the crux was pretty easy for me, but i didnt think it was so easy to protect just below it (i just went for it on a bit of runout) other than that i felt it is nice easy climbing for the grade. also great climb to do at the end of the day in the fall as it gets the last of the sun.

Tougher than it looks
In spite of the name, I actually climbed this route late in the day and had a picnic dinner at the top. Nice view of the valley below. VERY loose block, and the overhang was tougher than I expected.

It was getting cold but we wanted one more climb. We zipped up No Picnic for a quick climb.
