About Z-loft Rocks (NY):

Z-loft is a very secluded and unheard of rock quary. many areas of rock contain very pebbly, rough surfaces. also because it is unheard of by most, some sections are covered in moss. the climbable rock left however offers excellent challenge and quality. you can find many routes and a wide range of difficulty levels. a note of caution though, if setting up for a top rope stay on the trails on top of the rocks. many crevases are hidden and very dangerous. the rocks themselves cover a very large area, the majority of the hilltop. i suggest exploring the whole area before setting up for any climbs. there are NO bolted routes, top roping and placing trad gear are the only ways to go. you will very very rarely find another climbing group or any kind of life at all. this is a perfect and beautiful area to camp in, but please clean up after yourself and be aware of the environment. climb on.
Nearest town or city: Limestone
Directions: From Bradford: Go 219N into New York state. As you enter the small town of Limestone, exit to the right and go North on Main st. Turn right on Church st and go up it about a mile or 2 until it turns into Nichols Run rd. Keep going until the road turns to dirt, and soon begins to go up a steep hill. When you reach the top of the hill you will see a small group of buildings on the left. Immediately past the buildings there is a rough dirt road. It is possible to make it up this road by car, but not recommended. However you decide to travel it, you will keep to the right as it approaches a clearing. Do not take the road that turns 90 degrees to the right. Keep to the main road as you go along a ridge and then back into the woods where the road begins to curve more. Take the 2nd right turn you come upon and it will lead you straight tword a rock that is blackened from numerous camp fires. You can park here and walk the maze of trails that lead through the rocks. As you walk the trails, keep to the right and you will find the majority of the climbing.
Latitude, Longitude: 42.01812, -78.55349
Access Issues: The above directions are no longer valid as the road never "turns to dirt" luckily we found where the left turn off was onto a good looking (not rough) dirt road. However it was all gated off (dirt roads closed) & No Parking Signs - Will Tow at Owners Expense .. were posted We didn't attempt to get to the rocks as we had no where to park!!!
