About Barret's Boulder:

This is a relatively small crag on the right side of Hwy. 181 as you are going to Jonas Ridge or Boone from Morganton. I'm a Mo-town local and this place was the first place I ever got on a rock. Great toprope set-up with some challenging starts and a very crimpy overhang on the left side of the wall past the tree. I really hope I don't catch crap from the locals for posting it but oh well. There is a set of bolts at the top but they are pretty old; luckily some well-placed trees at the top add legit pro. Not sure if any routes have names, I'll ask some friends but feel free to contribute if you know.
Nearest town or city: Morganton
Directions: There is a gravel pull-off a few turns before Upper Creek Falls on the right side of the road as you go up 181. The rock is kind of hidden by trees during the summer but very obvious during the winter when the leaves are off the trees. Great park and play after an adventure in the gorge area!
