About Blowing Rock Boulders:

Blowing Rock Boulders were some of the first boulders developed in the area. Approximately 200 high quality problems from V0 to V10. Its relative lack of access problems and convenient location make it an extremely popular bouldering area (to prevent future access problems -- only park in designated areas and pack out all trash). There are dozens of boulders scattered on the hill below the rest area off of the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.
Nearest town or city: Blowing Rock
Directions: Take 221 out of Blowing Rock (towards Linville). Look for a turnoff for the Blue Ridge Parkway. About 100 yards past the turnoff there is a parking/rest area on the left. Park here. If lot is full, do not park on the grass. Additional parking is available at Sandy Flats Church, across the street. Look for a trail on the far end of the parking area. This trail has a number of forks. Follow the most heavily used path to the boulders. (10 minute hike)
