A short arete sits atop a slab on the left side of Phoenix Buttress. Closely spaced bolts protect an intense sequence on the left side of the edge. Technical moves low give way to strenuous cranks on good holds near the top.

I heard this climb was not so good, but I really enjoyed it. Once you get over to the left side of the arete, it's basically a technical face climb on two-finger pockets. I used the arete once or twice to get a comfortable clipping stance and then went back to the pockets on the face. The moves and pockets both get bigger near the top.
