Phoenix Buttress
About Phoenix Buttress:
Morning sun and afternoon shade, this lower section of the Smith Rock group is quite popular. The rock here is sometimes sharper to the touch than other areas, making painful fingers but incredible footwork possible. Mostly sport, there has been a growth of newer routes in recent years in this area. The namesake route "Phoenix" is a 4-star in the Watts book, but there are several routes similar, mostly face climbing. |
