Arguably one of the best places to boulder in Pennsylvania and some of the best quality stone in the East. If there were only more overhanging rock this area would be near perfect. 10-years ago I would have never imagined posting this area on the internet, but recently large groups of climbers have been frequenting the area so I decided to post a little beta/history abut the place.
The rock is conglomerate identical to the best quality smooth white rock the Gunk’s is famed for. The problems range from 15-feet high to 40-feet high. The landings are soft and devoid of rock making a crash pad unnecessary for many of the problems. The grades range from V0- to V9+ with established problems virtually everywhere. Some classics include The Half Moon, Pile Driver, Rob’s Traverse, The Black Tower, and many more.
Bob D’Antonio, Bob Murray, Rich Romano and many other notable climbers established a large number of boulder problems and a few sport routes up to 5.12+ at this great area. I was happy to have established some memorable problems at this four-star area.
