About Dinosaur Rock:

This is an area to visit if you happen to be in the area of Gretna, GS or ya just want something different. This is not worth a long trip unless you like finding and climbing an area that has little traffic, climbing wise. Access is very easy, less than 5 minute walk from parking to the boulders. There may not be many boulders but there are serveral lines to try out. Well hence the name the main rock formation looks like a dinosaur head and neck. The large stacking of boulders is around 30ft plus, could be climbed with ropes if ya wanted ( recomend checking it out first). there are serveral climbs on the main rock stack and several off to the side and north of main formation. Im not sure on ratings or names. Ill be posting my own names/ routes until someone informs me other wise. The quality of the climbing is ok, it ranges from very easy to looking impossible on the eastern inside face. Access to the area should not be an issue its on state game lands. Th area can be littered with trash and bottles, its a known party spot for the local kids, but isnt anything that cant be cleaned up or moved around, no danger to anyone climbing.
Nearest town or city: Colebrook
Directions: Coming from E-town when you reach 241/114 junction turn right as if your going to Gretna. Keep going straight up the hill on colebrook Rd. As you reach the top of the hill you will notice a large parking area for state game lands on the Lt hand side of the road park there, is the best place to park. Continue to walk towards the turn pike, on the hand side there will be a trail goin off into the woods, rather large part of the horseshoe trail before you reach the turnpike, walk back this trail for approx 100yds or so and you will soon see a large formation of rocks to your left. It will kinda look like a dinosaur , hence the name. Ill have GPS coordinates and a topo of area on page. North of the main rock stack there are several other boulders, most of them V0.
