About Bruner Run Take Out:

The Second Officially opened climbing area in Ohiopyle State Park. Volunteer trail work and route clearing took place during the spring and summer of 2008. This area is mainly used by local climbing classes, but don't let that deter you. On most days you'll be the only folks there. There are a number of top roped and gear climbs in the 5.4 to 5.12 range and one lone sport route - O'Brien's line 5.11b which was established and bolted in the early 90's. This crag was climbed occassionaly by locals over the years, but mostly sat dormant until access was granted. Officially opened to climbers in the fall of 2008. This area is a nice place to visit as the setting is nice and peaceful in one of PA's nicest state parks. Public camping available all around the area. For more info. Approach: Purchase shuttle tokens at the park office. Catch the shuttle at the Old Mitchell Place (also known as boater shuttle parking area). Climbers use the same shuttle busses that bring kayakers and rafters to their cars after running the river. Busses run on a continual schedule during boating season. During the winter period between Oct. and Mar. Bruner Run Road which leads to the take-out parking area is open to all vehicles. during this time you are permitted to drive down the normally gated road to trail head parking. ROAD OPEN - Weather Permitting. From the loop parking, shuttle drop off. Start hiking as though you were going to walk back up the road the bus brought you down. cross over the Bike trail/rail trail and take the obvious trail on the right. hike up the single track up over several stone staircases and switchbacks to the crag.
