"The Rock" at Texas A&M University-Commerce is located in Morris Recreation Center on campus. The staff is probably the friendliest and most helpful you'll find anywhere. There are over 10 top-rope stations, lead climbing for those who are qualified, and plenty of bouldering. Routes are available for all skill levels. Equipment--shoes, harness, chalk bags, beaners--is available to rent at no cost. A $5 day pass is required for non-students to enter the facility, and children under 18 are only allowed Friday-Sunday. The facility has only been open since June 2003, so everything is still relatively new. Come check out this gem quietly nestled in the middle of East Texas!
From Dallas, travel east on I-30. Take exit 101 (Hwy 24/50) to Commerce. This will lead you directly into town, and you can't miss the facility from the highway.
