This area, on national forest land, is just to the west of central capitol reef. you can access most of the good stuff from jeep trails that take off up from highway 12. Although the name of the mountain implies good rock, almost all of the stuff of significant height is pretty rotten. to make matters worse, there are not a lot of sizeable boulders either, even though the basalt has some awesome pockets that would make some good problems. Still, the area is kind of cool. The two routes described here can be reached by bushwhacking and loghopping uphill and north from Oak Creek Reservoir for about a half hour to some cool and chossy crag formations. It's the most decent climbing area on the mountain.
