Placing screws in the upper pillar has cost at least one climber his life when a horizontal fracture near the top was discovered too late.
I would recommend feeling comfortable climbing from the base of the pillar to the anchor with no gear (unless you might happen to get a pin in... yeah, right!), or find something else to climb.
