About Goat Canyon:

This is the first canyon north of the gravel pit located in South Willard just around the corner from North Ogden. This is several canyons south of Willard Falls, and probably 3 or 4 canyons south of Holmes Canyon (used for access to London Spire). This canyon angles southeast and has a nice little 85 to 95ft waterfall that forms near the top (visible from the road). Approach by heading east on 7425 South off of highway 89 until the road dead ends (be courteous to residents). Follow the trail system southeast until you reach the entrance to the canyon, then either follow the ridgeline and traverse in to the climb or stay inside the canyon (requires negotiating some small ice formations on the way). Plan on an hour to an hour and a half for the approach based on your fitness level. You'll be rewarded for your efforts with good scenery, fun climbing, cool mountain goats, and no humans. See upcoming photos for a better idea of the approach. I'm not sure of the actual name for this canyon, so we call it Goat Canyon based on the herd of about 16 to 18 mountain goats who live on the northeast side.
