Description:

Thin crack on the left side of the wall to a gap in the roof. Left of the bolted face route. This is the farthest left wall on the East Face of Storm Mountain Island. The wall is clearly visible from the road and parking lot. Low water approach: cross the stream and scramble up to the left of a large tree rising from the stream to the left of the wall (4th class). High water approach: traverse left from the base of Layback Crack for ~20 feet then scramble up to the base of the climb (4th class). Alternate approach: follow wide ledge from the top of the first pitch of Layback crack to the base of the wall.

Descent Options:

Rap rings, or top out on the island and take the hiking trail back to the picnic area. Rap rings at the bottom of the route lower to the stream - low water only!

3 out of 5 stars Nice 5.5

Nice lead. More fun to climb one crack at a time, makes it feel more 5.6. Placed large stoppers + Metolius 1, 4, and 6 (under roof).
