About Macabre Wall:

This wall has a lot of great climbing but is rarely done. Plan on bringing a helmet and a standard rack. The wall is good to climb all year long but if you want to go in the summer leave early in the morning so you're off by about noon. The wall can be climbed at 5.6 if you go the right way. The wall can also be very difficult if you want to link all of the roof pitches in one ascent. At this time, the Macabre roof only has two ascents. This roof pitch has a large refrigerator size block that looks detatched from everything around it which might be the reason for the limited number of ascents. The best pitches in my opinion are the 5.10 roof at the bottom, the arete left of the Macabre roof, the dihedral left of the arete, and the easy 4" crack in the center. I've never been disappointed after climbing this wall.
Nearest town or city: Ogden
Directions: From I-15 get off on the 12th street exit. Continue east to Harrison Blvd. Turn left(north) on Harrison. Park at a trailhead on the east side of the road at at 495 North. Work your way up various trails until you get to a dirt road with the canal next to it. Head north on the dirt road. The canal will go underground and the road dips a little. The canal appears again on the other side of this dip. When the canal disappears a 2nd time, you should find an obvious trail that switch-backs up the mountain. Take this for a few switch-backs while looking north for a deer trail that heads over to a thin talus field. The deer trail will cut through some scrub oak and take you to the talus field. Follow the talus up to the high point just below the wall.
