About The Moon Rocks:

The Moon rocks are located three miles west of the Royal Columns on the north side of the river. This is a compact area, only about 200 feet wide, but it houses some of the best lines in all of the Tieton.
Approach: From the junction of Highway 12 and 410, drive west 5 miles on hwy. 410 and look for a very large parking area on the north (left) side of the road. Park here (WDFW Access pass required), and look for a wooden foot bridge crossing the river near the west end of the parking area (obvious trail). Cross the footbridge and walk west on the Tieton River Nature Trail for approximately 1/4 mile until the moon rocks columns become visible several hundred feet above. At this point, look left for an unmarked trail which leads up to the right side of the cliff. Please stay on the main climbers trail - it is tempting to cut the switchbacks, but loose rocks and concentrated rattlesnake habitat will make you reconsider this choice.
Approach Time: Approximately 20 minutes from car to crag.

Access Issues: Be sure to check with Oak Creek Wildlife Area personnel ((509) 653-2390), regarding seasonal raptor nesting closures.
