About The Bird Watching Boulder:

This pinnacle and the small outcrop just below it, mark the lowest elevation climbing at Rocks of Sharon. It can be seen low and to the east, just as you near Big Rock on the Steven's Creek approach trail. It can be quite difficult to spot from above. There are routes on every side of this 80' high pinnacle ranging in difficulty from 5.9 - 5.12. The route Subconscious Birdwatcher (5.11a) is one of the true classics of Rocks of Sharon.
Approach: When approaching from the Steven's Creek trail, bushwhack East on the faint trail starting from the end of last switchback before you get to the Big Rock South face routes. Look for it to the East (right) as you come up the hill and its easier to spot. When coming from above, approach by heading East along the base of The Rookie Wall and The Gem Stone and then heading downhill (South) on a small trail for about 3 minutes.
Approach Time: 25 min from Steven's Creek..
