About Index Town Wall:

Index is one of the finest granite climbing area in the state. In the late 1800's the area began to see some logging. Later on the walls began to be quarred. In the 1980's a giant tunnel was drilled in the Country area. It is now used by the U.W. for its physics lab. Most serious climbing started here in the 1960's. The walls are up to 500' tall. The area features sport climbs, trad climbs, and also some long aid climbs.
