About The Wine Spires:

The Wine Spires are a cluster of four granite spires running SE to NW along the north ridge of Silver Star peak in the Washington Pass region of the North Cascades. The Wine Spires are a collection of peaks located approximately From the north, Chianti Spire is the second large formation which does not include the smaller adjoining “Paisano Pinnacle.” Chianti Spire has a summit elevation of approximately 8,400 feet. It is shorter than Pernod Spire, but taller than Chablis.
Approach: A climber's trail begins off HWY 20 at elev. 4250' and heads eastward up to Burgundy Col; traverse through the col and onto the upper Silver Star Glacier; the route starts off the upper Silver Star Glacier (<5 miles, 4500' up, 3-5 hours) (Note: alternate approach is via Silver Creek from HWY 20)
