Description:

This nice line climbs the LFDihedral just to the left of Horn's Mother. 2 Pitches or run it together with much gear. P1 is 5.8 or so. P2 tunnels right into the chimney (5.8 or easier) or another choice of a scrunchy handjammy layback (5.9) around a chockstone. Recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Good times, boulder exit was where it was at

Classic. I climbed OVER the boulder. It seemed hard for 5.9, however maybe the 5.9 was around the boulder. Either way, it was fun. Bring a couple of small pieces for the top. There is a small fissure at the top that takes C3s. Also, around a #1 camalot or slightly smaller for near the boulder, and a good nut placement behind the climber's head for the last piece. Use LONG slings or rope drag will be horrible. I did it in one pitch. Rap off with one 60 meter rope by going down and left about 10-20 feet. We used two 60m ropes and they got stuck when doing this rappel twice.

My first real experience with offwidth and chimney climbing. Not fun at the time, like being thrown into deep water to learn how to swim. I wanna do it again though, or just more offwidth. Get my techniques refined. Brit had alot of trouble with P1, but hiked up P2. I thought P1 was much easier than the 2nd. We both found the chimney pretty strenous. It was unlike anything I'd ever done, like being constantly stuck.

Scary 5.8 if you haven't been up it before. We met some guy who said his name was Paul Piana... As in "Paul Piana has a need to be Famous" or Todd Skinner and Paul Piana free Salathe Wall.... Could you almost count him as a celebrity?

More slab than crack. Be creative and bring something big for the chimney.

2nd Time - fun - both really because Ed's Crack was too crowded - and it's all good too!
