5 out of 5 stars October 22

This is a fun 3 pitched climb which will only take no more than 15 minutes per pitch. To get there you can tell the taxi driver to take you Cantagalo or the Metro to the last stop with is Cantagalo.

Once there, look up in all directions until you see the mountain. Walk up the street (opposite direction of beach) to the end which is mostly uphill. When you get there, you will see a gate on your left with a tiny little makeshift stairs. A brief 10 minute hike through the vegetation will take you to where the route starts which is very close to the top of a tiny (narrow) concrete/stone staricase.

Once at the top of the route you get a great view of the surrounding city, beaches, and lake. Believe me, it is very beautiful. You will actually be looking down onto the surrounding buildings. If you are there in December, you will see the giant Christmas tree in the lake.

There are mostly small footholds and little to no hand holds. You will mostly use your hands for balancing while climbing up this rock. The rock, which is Granite, is sharp and a slip or fall will most likely result in some cuts and scrapes. Don't worry as I did not cut my fingers at all.

You will have to wear a helmet since there is always the threat of falling rock. Equipment needed will include 6-8 quickdraws, varied carabiners, ATC for each climber, runners, and at least a 60 meter rope.

To get down, you will have to rappel since there is no route on the top.

I will post pictures when I get a chance.
