One of the higher peaks in the low costal range of hills, this large hill is the pinacle of the Cerro La Campana national park. The hill itself can be climbed in about 6-10 hours via a clearly defined trail, the summit is all rock and has a lot of trad routes. Another climbing area (Las Bandurrias) is down by the base of the hill just inside the park north of the town of Granizo.
Climbing inside the park is generally not permitted, however you can ask permission to climb at the park admittance area, sneaking in is another alternative and they will ask you to leave if they find you. negotiation is possible, however, DO NOT attempt to bribe park officials.
drinkable water is available about 300 meters down the trail from the mine that marks the end of the road, this water is probably best filtered or boiled.
