El Inga is an historical area where the first inhabitants of Ecuador lived. Radiocarbon dates between 4,000 and 10,000 B.C. were obtained from artifacts and experts believe the site was located on an ancient trade route from a nearby obsidian source. The highlands are crossed by the Inca's Road and it's a very well protected ecological place where one of the biggest Polylepis forest of Ecuador grows. Lots of birds, little mammals, spectacled bears, pumas, venados and the typical species of the andean highlands. On good climate days you are able to observe the Antizana volcano, it's an amazing view of the mountain! This is a private camping, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and rappeling zone. The rock is volcanic basalt, not very suitable for climbing, but we're still looking for ideal routes. This area looks promising.
