About Stoney Point:

Climb in the footsteps of Royal Robbins, Yvon Chouinard, Bob Kamps, John Bachar, John Long, Batten... they all trained at Stoney. Just north of LA, this is the closest and most popular area for Boulderers. There are many TR's here also. Stoney is great for year-round climbing (a little hot in the summer) but please remember that since Stoney is sandstone you should wait 4-5 days after rainfall to climb (wet holds will break damaging the rock and possibly you).

News, maps and some topos can be found here thanks to Chris Owen author of Urban Rock the Stoney Point Climbers Guide. For great bouldering photos check out this cool Website

There has been an increase in chipping here lately by some self-centered no-talents. If you see somebody defacing the rock insist that they stop or run them off.

Stoney needs to be cleaned up, please take a garbage bag with you, and do your part.

Nearest town or city: Chatsworth, San Fernando Valley
Directions:

Easiest is connecting to Hwy 118 and exit Topanga Canyon Blvd in Chatsworth, head south for about 2 city blocks past one traffic light, u-turn and park roadside along the big brown rock formation with all the graffitti. Topanga Canyon Blvd exit is 8 miles from the 405 interchange if coming from the east, and the rock formation can be seen on the left off the far side of the highway as you approach the exit. Can also connect to Hwy 101 and exit Topanga Canyon Blvd and head north, but longer drive on local streets this way

NOTE: There are no porta-potties in or near the park (can the Access Fund help with this?), so take care of business before heading out the door. The gas and food establishments down the blvd will bluntly deny use of facilities and will in fact enjoy your crotch squirming desperation; very cruel and demented people thereabouts. There is a map here...
