Squaw Rock
About Squaw Rock:
South of Hopland on Hwy. 101 next to the beautiful Russian River is Squaw Rock a 150' tall cliff of mostly crumbly, dirty rock. At the base of the cliff across the river from Hwy. 101 are two small (35' tall) caves. The cave on the right hand side has 2 short hard sport climbs. It is best accessed by walking across the river (waist deep) from the beach just upstream from about june or july until the first big rains make the river to high to cross for the rest of the year. The left hand route is a hard 4 bolt 5.12b - "Don't Call Me Squaw" and the right hand route is the short/steep 2 bolt 5.12a -"Resurrecton". Below Hwy. 101 at Squaw Rock are also a few good boulder problems from V0 to V4. |
