Laurel Knob Climbing Management Plan
by Anthony Love
Apologies for the late notice!
The Carolina Climbers Coalition is happy to announce the completion of a comprehensive draft of the Laurel Knob Climbing Management Plan. Dr. Aram Attarian generated the first draft this summer which has been circulated, discussed, revised, rediscussed and recirculated for close to three months now. We feel this plan addresses the issues that are most important to preserve and protect the unique resource that Laurel Knob represents.
At this time, the Management Plan has been published for a public comment period of two weeks (Nov. 16th - Nov. 30th.). The CCC will evaluate all comments in consideration of preparing a final draft of our plan. The board will vote to accept or reevaluate the plan once the comment period has ended. Once this document is accepted by the Board, we will act according to the policies it sets fourth.
The Board of Directors have elected to answer questions rather that to retort or defend the content of what we collectively produced. We want to know what YOU think! Please help us to improve our plan by making your comments on our website (www.carolinaclimbers.org) message board. A section entitled “Laurel Knob Climbing Management Plan” has been added to our message board. Please make all of your comments there.
