Boone sucks. Brevard is cool. The Pisgah rules. Move out west and get it over with. Do like the Linville Gorge though. Peace. Mike

I might go to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff in the Fall and if I do, I plan on majoring in Parks and Recreation Management.

Dartmouth don't fck with the green. hehe jk... i'm just pretty psyched about Dartmouth. University of Colorado at Boulder has one of the best outdoor programs in the country. probably one of the best climbing colleges (unless u don't mind a more obscure, less renowned college... then go for University of Texas at El Paso)

north carolina state university, close to TN, has a really good outdoor program. the faculty there are very knowledgeable and helpful. the only downside being the location (raleigh, not good) parks and rec has alot of majors related to outdoors stuff: http://www.cfr.ncsu.edu/prtm/about.htm and most get the outdoor leadership minor: http://www.ncsu.edu/pe/outdoor_leadership.html if i had undergrad to do over again i would major in tourism management and get the outdoor leadership minor Tommy

I'm at MiddleTN State University in Murfreesboro about 45 minutes southeast of Nashville towards Chattanooga. The Rec department is going through some changes right now and looking for new professors (one went out west, something happened to another, one retired, etc) but their is a wall at the rec center a newly developed local crag about 45 minutes away, hour 15 to Foster Falls, 2 to King's Bluff, 2 1/2 to Lilly Boulders, Bluff and S Clear Creek, 3 to Horse Pens 40 (the best bouldering in the South). 3 1/2 to Rocktown, probably 4-5 to Red River Gorge. The traffic is horrible. There are like 70K people but it's worse than Nashville.

The costs are rising but the programs aren't getting any better! If you want Colorado outdoor programs, shoot for Colorado Mountain College. Or Colorado State University, or Fort Lewis, or Western, or Mesa State. Or, if you have an inhuman tolerance for cold and boredom (the first three months of any year really do suck), come up to Laramie. Its dirt cheap and has a pretty good business school, which is what you'll really want.
