When I turned down a management position with a company that would have paid for the rest of my college tuition because it would have cut into my climbing time.

...when you build an adjustable crack machine in your dorm room... even when the climbing gym is only a block away. ...when you spend more money on guidebooks in a semester than on textbooks. ...when you skip meals to save gas money for the weekend trip and beer.

In reply to: You take 5 months off medic school to move to Joshua Tree. Ha, that's a coincidence. I just stepped down from a position so I could transfer from Maryland to California to be in a suburb of J-tree!

when you buy extra stuff, so you can take newbies out just so you can teach them how to belay, so you can climb. Also when you are feeling down, you go and buy a locker and some webbing, just because.....

* You've read all 27 pages of this... * You're climbing outside at 11 or 12 at night on the wall you and your brother built (including hand-made holds), or * That same hand-made wall & holds was originally for inside your brother's tiny apartment (which is why you have to make it taller now). * You've been nodding the whole time you're reading these. * You're still not bored yet.

when your hands have been raw for 3 weeks because you refuse to take time off, and your (non-climbing) friend asks "why dont you just wear gloves" all you can do is shake your head. or maybe im doing soemthing wrong. (the raw fingers bit) and you just spent an hour reading this whole thing, even when you know youve read it before

....when you go to Sunol regional wilderness looking for "Little Yosemite" ...when you get up early to climb your proj in 96 degree heat, and the locals told you not to ...when you write posts about your latest send ...when you drive out to your proj and end up driving longer than you climb, yet you come away with a smile on your face  sound like anybody you know, Slabby?
