Hey Anne It's been a while. Haven't climbed much due to the knee so I opt for kayaking but there ain't much water now. THE TICK STORIES: CASE I: These folks are friends of mine or relatives of friends, so I know they are the real thing. Young lady ~30 YO general rash on legs, not the typical bullseye rash. Felt sick ,flu like but not major sick. Within 1 1/2 weeks of the rash and days of the flu developed neurological problems with the left side of her face. Her face started to droop...eye, cheek and mouth. She overcame the parasites with IV antibiotics but still has the droopey facial features. CASE II: Young male teenager, similar rash, not bulleyes rash, started acting crazy many months later. Apparently he had the parasites for many months before being diagnosed. He also developed neurological problems. He limps, looses control of facial muscles and has lost much of his mental abilities. He acts like a stroke patient. Unfortunately he hasn't recovered with 8 years of IV antibiotics. CASE III: 20 YO young lady, NO rash, refused to believe she was sick so she refused antibiotics for many months. Parents had to take power of attorney so that she could be "forced" to receive antibiotics. She became very sick for many years but appears to have made a full recovery. I don't want to scare y'all but always, always do a tick check after being in the woods. Take a shower and feel your WHOLE body. It can actually be fun:-) Charlie
