Yeah when Asana bailed right before the event, i think Desert Rock something or other setup that awful line the night the contest was supposed to happen, but there was no one monitoring it or judging or giving out the advertised prizes, even though the contest was supposed to have started at 9 am that morning, the crappy line went up late in the afternoon, after enough people complained that there was no slacking contest. The line was impossible to do even the simplest tricks on and then Desert rock put the Asana banner above it because they sell their slackline kit. But someone really dropped the ball with the advertised lowline contest, and that line was god awful for sure. Larry tried to help by setting up a trickable line in the trees and removing the tightening system, but you can't ask one guy to put on a contest on the spur of the moment.

Thankfully GHT and SBI and Damien were there to rig a great A-frame trick line and judge and give prizes for a lowline freestyle contest the next morning. Congrats to Isaac and Matt, runner up and winner, respectively. Although GHT members weren't eligible for prizes since some of them had to judge the contest. But we brought a-frames over from one of our campsite lowlines and had a contest anyway. There were lots of slackers there from all over the place.

If you ask Asana, Desert Rock dropped the ball, if you ask Mountain Gear, Asana dropped the ball. I think they all dropped the ball. (I know cause I asked them all) But they advertised a contest with prizes that people travelled a long way to see and compete in, then they bailed last minute. This is a prime example of a company not taking the people they sell to seriously, and bailing on a bunch of devoted veteran slackers who came to compete and show their stuff.
And we hold companies accountable in our sport.

Joe

The fact that Rockdan bought a ratchet and was happy with it, is exactly what prompted me to post!

I have let your ratchet propaganda go on uncontested on this site long enough!

Ratchets are not proper slackline etiquette! A Ratchet will never be slackline proper slackline etiquette!

You kids just startin out, learning to slackline takes a certain amount of commitment. Please, if you chose to make that comitment, make an equal commitment to learning proper rigging techniques. Don't look for cheap short cuts!
