It's fun to mock them but in all seriousness someone could get killed if they go on youtube or expertvillage and think that's the way to do things. I'm flagging and emailing youtube and expertvillage and telling them that this is unsafe instruction ect and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Guys like this help to add negative publicity when some kid goes thinking they are doing things right and gets into trouble.

OK, I know this comment is going to render a few STFU NOOB comments, but in all seriousness I need someone to explain this to me, since I am completely clueless when it comes to anchors.
So can someone explain what exactly an american death triangle is (of course I see from watching the video, but a more in-depth explanation would be nice), and why exactly it is so bad to use?

1) the angles of the triangle cause the forces to be multiplied so that each bolt will have to hold more than 100% of the downward force, as someone mentioned before. If this makes no sense, check any physics 101 book for an explanation.
2) the anchor is really just one giant loop of webbing (well, 2, but parallel), so if one part gets cut, it all fails. e.g. no redundancy.

I agree the guy is a dumbass, as there are better ways to do it. And I didn't listen to it with sound, so I don't know what was said. But the guy put up two ADTs, so there's redundancy in the thread. It's connected to two bolts, so I'm not too worried about force multiplication for a TR. I lost interest to see if he used two biners at the MP, so maybe you can fault him there. Sure, he shouldn't be giving out instructional vids, but any tard who sees that and doesn't read any of the dozen or so "YOU"RE GOING TO DIE!!!!1" comments posted below, probably deserves his fate. This pretty much goes for anyone who sees one video on You Tube and runs out to test his/her life on said knowledge.

I agree that people should read the things below it and hopefully will take them to heart. But the videos can also be linked and embedded to without comments ect. the "top rope triangle" was not the only thing that was posted by them that was dangerous and all those things add up. sure you can take that attitude that people get what they deserve but things like this can bite you in the ass. It's not all that hard to imagine seeing the headline "climbing group has accident" and have access issues as a result. The perception that all climbing is risky and a liability is something that I encounter all the time in my area (New Jersey, where until recently climbing was banned in most areas, and even with the new waiver is restricted in most areas). for a group to be uninsured ect could foreseeably result in ridiculous rules such as requiring indeviduals to have special insurance to climb.
