the first time you solo an airplane is up there too. First solo trip in an airplane and the first time you fly an airplane into the clouds solo - those are all on the list as well. :)

Good for you! Not enough new climbers are willing to start at a lower grade and work their way up these days. Everyone wants to start at 5.10. Climb on.

In reply to: Congratulations my friend. I too just enjoyed my first trad lead! 5.2 west crack of the whale's tail in Eldo. Great chunky two - great first lead. CONGRATS on yours and welcome to the chess game called being on the sharp end of the rope. :) Peace and happiness, JD way to go, mate!

I did mine too!!!!!!!!! It was on a route that I already know, a 5.10c and my friends told me to try it trad and i was like... hmmm ? why not... then they showed me how to do it! and i started to go up on it and it took me FOREVER to finish it, and trusting the cams and the frenz is SO danm hard.... that i didn't wanna fall... At the end I finished without falling and it felt pretty good!!! I'm sooo in love with climbing now... and today was a really greatful day for me.... after doing this, did my first leading on a 5.12a... AMAZINGLY I finished it... WOW I'm impressed! _________________ T! hmm, youve been climbing for about six months and lead your first trad route at .10c  and lead a .12a (sport I assume)  Dont know about you, but I was fried after my first lead (a lowly 5.7) . I wonder if anyone else has a hard time swallowing this. :?: btw Im glad you are impressed with yourself :?

I don't have a hard time swallowing it per se, but I fear for that one. There's a reason you start leading trad below your limit. Yeesh. I, for one, am going to be very happy if I never take a trad fall.
