Just how hard must one wank to get loose?

Trad vs Bouldering is nonsensical. I can't even think of too many old skool trad climbers who aren't also really good boulderers.

I think we infest the world with a super-hybrid "Sport climbing" species, who will throw babies in lakes and feed crocodiles spotted owls.

And then, we get political!!!!

"i want to bake a cake full of rainbows and smiles, and everyone could have a piece, and we could all be friends"

i reference that movie just cuz im wondering if its really worth fighting over, seems stupid. less arguing and more climbing, whatever stye it may be, is the best way to go.

Bouldering is like mass distribution in a warehouse!

I heard that from somewhere, but I'm not sure what it means.

Probably.

That's because if you eschew hangdogging, you'll never be good unless you also boulder (and thus "work" moves).

Then again, I don't know very many modern trad climbers who still eschew hangdogging....

ready for battle. the past 2 years were spent deep within a rarely climbed offwidth in j-tree forging a massive tradapult, you read it right. by overcamming a total of seventeen camalots between sizes 3 and 5 i can fling a salvo of nuts, hexes, tricams and slings knotted together to form pumpnets. a pumpnet works by allowing those with smaller, less developed forearms (newbie boulderers, tr´ers, trad and aid climbers) to escape while the popeyed boulderers are trapped. imagine, a posse of boulderers entangled in 40 meters of tube webbing! they could nothing while i release the awesome energy of the tradapult! hundres and hundreds of dollars worth of fashionably anodized passive pro inflicting wounds of cataclysmic proportion!!! the boulderfields will run a pinkish-red hue of bodily fluids, chalk and.... oh no!! the pads! the pads! how could i overlook such a well designed method of defense! retreat! retreat! the offwidth of solitude is our only hope!!!!!!!

There is now. The traddies had to preemptively strike the boulderers out of a misplaced fear that they might suddenly start highballing proud lines. Next, the traddies will declare "mission accomplished," followed by a bunch of boulderers taking over the crags, stealing gear and generally causing chaos.

Meanwhile, the traddies will pour all of their resources into this war, running up their credit cards in the hopes that their huge display of gear might scare off the boulderers.

But this won't work, since boulderers are purists to their style and shiny new gear doesn't scare them away. Soon, bouldering will be divided into various warring sects, with The House of Prana vying to take control from the Shermanite sect. So then the traddies will feel obligated to step in and help mediate this new war....and so on.

Now come on, we all know the only "REAL" kind of climbing is on overhangs that have been chipped and have glue-on holds added, with all protection preplaced, no more than 5 feet apart.

So all the boulderers and trads need to quit whining and start firing up those Bosch's and buying glue in bulk...then we'll be able to REALLY advance the sport!

Boulderers, Tradsters, cant we just get along? Are we all that different, I mean the point is to get to the top of the rock without bolts right? Whether using cams, nuts and hexes or tape, brushes and crash pads, we still just climb. I mean honestly, what happened to peacefull coexsitance? What happened to understanding ones differences? In fact, I think that the only difference (besides thousands of dollars more equipment) between tradsters and boulderers is that tradsters are a little more "high ball" than those humble souls who prefer to conquer rocks rather than cliffs! Spotters, belayers, whatever, in truth we are the same. The debate should be a discussion; the fight, encouragtement. In truth, the real harm is in the sport climbers, I agree with the commentor in that we must uninte against them! They mar the rock and call it "safety." I call it disgusting. I'm no enviromental activist, but it's hard to see the outdoors as pristine when there are little metal loops littering a wall. Come together, stop arguing, and screw the sporters!

well, considering that we have the ninja's on our side, the boulderers and tradsters should make quick work of the sport guys.

unless they bring those hilti or bosch dohickys. those are pretty scary.

actually, those arn't nearly as scary as ice tools. i climb ice as well, i guess thats pretty trad. at least it doesn't involve bolts! so lets see if we can get the ice guys to join up as well.
