I miss having brent in here and making him squirm.

With all the boning he and laura apparently do, i doubt that there is too much that will make him squirm. Unless you took a crowbar to the racecar.

And I need this information to arm myself against my son's great vision of putting a climbing wall in our attic. And we don't have that kind of attic.

Update. The hole has been patched. Now all my buddy needs to do is a second coat of joint compound and then paint the ceiling. I will probably help him paint.

thats the least you can do!

Sex talk used to make him very uncomfortable. Maybe it was because of Val and now he is sexually liberated?

Not too busy. Well, not anymore.

Single guy <---- just dropped his daughter off with his ex-wife and returned home to enjoy this evening.

I'm going skiing tomorrow, so I'll return to busyness in a bit when I start to de-bur my edges on my skis. I caught a nasty rock a few weeks ago and my ski is in need of some dire TLC.

Backcountry skiing?

I caught a few rocks with a bunch of ice screws the first weekend out that I need to work on sharpening. Not looking forward to that.

In other news and for when the monkeys get to NS and start reading this...I went to see Calvin last night with my son.

Calvin was happy to see us. He had eaten all his food and one whole water dish in the basement. We played on the climbing wall and put Calvin up on top to watch us. But it must have been the wrong spot where he can get down, because he couldn't get down. He was stuck. And he didn't want me to grab him. So I had to have brent stand on a chair and lean over, then pat his back so Calvin would jump on him. I forgot he had claws! Brent yelled and I laughed so hard!

We got lucky too, I guess the guy across the road used the snow blower! Brent brushed off your truck Nathan. And there was no mail there! Don't you guys have any bills? Maybe the neighbour picked up the mail?

Going to go back after Tuesday and climb more. Have to take some allergy pills first though, i couldn't breath. And more plastic!
Isn't Calvin an asshole?
haha funny story, guess you got lucky with the neighbors saving you the trouble of shoveling the walk.

Ha. I think the monkeys have described Calvin as an asshole. He sure does have attitude. He was happy to see us, but it didn't take long before I could tell he was wanting us to leave. Once he got down from the roof he pretty much ignored us. He didn't even want to play with the lazer pointer after that.
How would you like ti if we put you up on a ledge wher you couldn't get down?

Rebecca HAS done that to me! And I was stuck on a ledge at Nemo and had to rap down!! hahha remember that becca?

Yeah, that was a bit of silliness. But you weren't stuck, and I'm sure I could have given you a fireman's.

Expected 30 cms here

Maybe this will finally be the winter that has balls.
Hopefully too. I finally got to use my snowshoes for the first time today. I bought them summer 2006 off steepandcheap.
Goddamn, I was wishing that we had snowshoes whne we were in Quebec. The snow was deep there!

How was her majesty's land?
You mean Quebec?

It was fuckin' sweet!! We are hopefully going to hit some stuff up at Gaspe and then spend one more day at Pont Rouge on the way home. Hopefully the river will be frozen at PR. I'm super excited to get back out there later in the year too. We just need to find two more people to drive from toronto with to split gas and a hotel room.

Here are a couple of pics of Bec at PR.

That looks steep. Nice job becca!

Nathan lead it, but I need to get some TR millage to get comfortable with the whole thing before I start leading.

BTW - did you gte every thing sorted out with the boots in the end. I know her last email was saying that she was going to send them out at the agreed price, I'm just wondering if she ever let you know that she actually sent them out.

cool vid. What is the 5th day? 5 golden tooques? Is that the jewish thing that they wear under their shirts with the tails hanging out?

hahah bad picture on there actually. Have you ever seen the movie? Its a cult classic
I guess not. What movie?

Strange Brew

http://www.youtube.com/...&feature=related
I know what I will suggest we rent next time we are at Blockbuster.

It's an old movie with stupid humour, but good in the day
pssst doc wasn't even born yet. We should pretend like we don't know how it was 'in the day', or he will start claiming we are old.

oh right. i will keep that under wraps!

But all the people I climb with are a lot younger than me so I'm used to it. Actually, I had a drunken conversation once with GG and we determined that she was still in diapers when I lost my virginity.
but keep that under wraps too cuz doc will use it against me!!!

Wait, was I drunk, or were you drunk, or perhaps we were both drunk (?).....'cause I don't remember that conversation.

Okay girlfriend...you don't have the best memory...let me refresh for you:

trip to Toronto to buy your weding garb. then out to the bar to get you drunk to celebrate your last bit of freedom....and couldn't get you drunk but we were feeling no pain...you talking about university days then about what year you were born and I realized that was the same year.....

Now you remember???

Nope.

I suck.

Finals were a bitch. But i survived. Two As and a B+

Well done doc!!! Congrats! I had my first EVER straight A semester. Didn't know it was possible.

Hope everybody has a great Christmas.

Sounds like Nate and Becs are having a great time!

Kel, don't kill the cat.

Straight A's? Awesome Kel...sorry didn't even know you were going to school.
I hope your Christmas is good too!

Honestly I was a B to B+ student through university (though because it was in engineering I was actually above average). Somehow everything clicked my last semester of university and I got all A's and A+'s, it felt pretty good.

Yeah she's got me beat. Stupid anatomy.

eh, don't knock yourself. I didn't take anything as difficult as anatomy this semester. Last semester was pretty bad though; calc, bio-chem, o-chem, restoration ecology and a bio. But I didn't do nearly as well as you did. Not even close.

Crap, chem and bio, bleh. I had hard times in chem my first year of university.

I like math, glad there are people out there good enough at that other stuff that I can keep away from it.

You can expect burning forearms and cold.
And screaming barfies when you hands get cold then warm up. That normally only happens once a day though and as long as you keep your hands warm and don't overgrip it shouldn't be a problem.

I need to ask...what is a screaming barfie???
When your hands go numb them warm back up.

Generally they are caused by lack of circulation from over gripping. The blood stops flowing and your hands get cold. Meanwhile the rest of your body is getting super warm because you are building heat while climbing. Once the blood start flowing again it hurts like a bitch. Supposedly some people have them so bad they want to barf or something.

If you are careful you can avoid them. It is a bit like hangovers while drinking, but would happen after your first drink then not be a problem the rest of the night unless you did something really stupid.

Amazingly enough, I haven't really gotten them yet on our trip. My new belay mits are nice.

You leaving? Gunna get GUed on this but hey. Have fun in thailand.

Oh yeah, Happy Holidays to y'all in this thread!!1 I'll even wish you happy ice climbing! Dammit, I wish I wasn't driving for awhile tonight to get to the in-laws. The in-laws are alright, but I'm hoping not to run into an armegeddon of fucking traffic...

Good luck with the traffic. May the gifts and food be plenty and the sobriety be fleeting.

You're speaking my language, Doc! The only thing I want is the traditional REI gift certificate my folks give me. Everything else is gravy.... There should be plenty of ye olde beer at the inlaws though...
Heh I just handed my Sister, Brother in law and my two nephews their REI GC's.
