By the by, I'm not trying to give a tutorial on breaking in boots in under 20 words. It's an example of reasonable justifications for seeing serious boots in less serious conditions. Relax.

Can you take weekday powder days? I'm a shitty skier, but when it really snows, I'm in. And unfortunately, I'm totally employed. But I get off at 3:15, and go up for some rocks afterwards almost every day. Regardless of the temps.

I wish more posers would buy North Face and other outdoor outfitter brnads. The more they buy, the more available and cheaper it is for us!

So people are buying quality stuff because they have the money. So what? If people want to be posers, then let them. I would rather people think about where that product is coming from and what the business practices of the company are. I'm sorry, but I just can't get upset about the college student with a carabiner hanging from his backpack. Josh

It doesn't seem cold enough yet, but I wager I'll see it a time or two this year. I guess it's just odd enough to leave an impression. Don't get me started on muffin-tops. Back to climbing, people!

think of it this way, the more the "poseurs" wear our clothing, the cheaper it is for us to get the top of the line stuff!!!

It's people like that that drive markets. Even though it is a fashion statement, if hordes of people were not buying stuff like that, it would'nt be available. Same thing with happened in the biker world back in the 80s and 90s. "Wanna be one minute outlaw bikers" drove the market and drove the price of all that stuff up as well.

Personally, I am absolutely tickled that niche companies like TNF, Mountain Hardwear, OR, Acteryx and so on are able to remain profitible - especially considering that it's really hard to convince most people that a $400 shell is worthwhile or even that there is a difference.
