I'm hungry, too. going to eat here at the hostel. hamburger, fries, and a soda for ~$3.00 (1500 pesos at 474 per dollar). They're having a bbq tonight, too for free. Very nice.

grabbing afternoon beer with an editor tomorrow. i may take his apt when he leaves for the US on Dec 31. $250/mo for a studio on the 16th floor. includes utilities. good: awesome view of andes, 25m pool (saves me about $80/mo to join a pool), studio apt so I'll get some quiet time, and in the heart of Providencia, which is the busy neighborhood in the Santiago metro area. bad: only for three months (so I gotta look again in April), no fridge (the dude eats out every day or buys his stuff every day), mattress is on the floor, have to stay in a hostel until Dec 31.

discovered nico's restaurant yesterday. lunch for two: - liter of beer (40oz) - single bottle of coke for my friend (glass bottles here in chile, btw, no plastico) - bread with a fucking awesome salsa for dipping - small rice / broth soup for each of us - whole small chicken (personal sized), shitload of rice, shitload of fried for me to eat - thin slice of kabob-style beef, shitload of fries, two fried eggs for my friend american-sized portions for CH$8500 with tip = ~US$18.50 one meal for all day = priceless.

I get a small but free breakfast at the hostel everyday. I can choose how many large rolls (they aren't rolls, more like very small loaves of bread, but large roll is an easier description) I want to eat. Then I eat one meal in the afternoon for about US$6-$7 and add an ice cream late for about US$1. So basically eating out for an entire day for less than US$10 per day. Can't wait until I'm actually cooking regularly.
