OKAY, there are jerks on this site, and i know that, but gezz, dont you have something else to do rather than post on a thread that you say is idiotic, thats kind of contradicting yourself isnt it?? And for anyone that has over 6000 post, you need to get out more and stop typing so much.. Dont like the thread, dont post, thats simple enough isnt it. I guess this probably makes you feel better about yourself though, knowing others will see your reply and feel guilty posting now. What i think is even more funny is that you will check back, see i have written this, and then say some lame "shut up quote" to me where if you thought this post was stupid, you wouldnt be doing so now would you.. Think about that.

I'd better put on a raincoat with all this SPRAY.

Anyway, my goal is to climb more efficiently than I currently do, while at the same time having a higher strength to weight ratio and higher energy levels. (As if anyone cares, i'm making some attempt to improve my diet, started running, doing my usual strength/yoga training, and of course, climbing as much as the rain will permit). Therefore the climbing will actually seem EASY...ER, not HARD...ER. My goal is to make climbing easier so that I may enjoy those relatively difficult lines I've been eyeing for some time now.

Instead of just babbling about grades, I'll say this. I hope to lead 2 grades stiffer than I currently have. 50% mental - with this alone I can jump to the next grade. Then either 50% in better lock off strength, or just more efficient/faster gear placements, I think I can go up another grade. I don't really have any goals for sport, or bouldering or anything else - when I do that stuff Im just chillin and having fun.

Who wants to climb harder....

Actually I'd like to climb easier, if you don't mind. I want to just flow from hold to hold with no discernable effort whatsoever. On good days, that's the way it goes. Physical training can only get you so far, the rest is in the mind, eh?
Oh, and 5.11-ish, and counting. No specific goal, just always pushing the limits. Willing to wait and see.

hey kansasplasticboy, assuming that I could actually comprehend your terrible grammar and style enough to make a reasonable comeback, here goes–

"don't like the thread, don't post"? No. If a thread or response is unusually st00pid, I will say so.

And this thread is certainly terrible. Number spraying sucks, and you used this thread as an overt vehicle to spray, as well as compare your self-supposed climbing prowess with that of others. Lame. If someone really wants to know how hard you climb, he/she can simply check your ascents list in your profile. Same for me, same for anybody.

Instead of all that "improvement" bullshit, you could have just posted, "WOOHOO LOOK AT ME I CLIMB SOOOOOOOO HARD EVERYBODY!!!!11 LOOK AT MY NUMBERS AND POTENTIAL VEE DOUBLE DIGITS WANKWANKWANK WOOOOOOO!!!!!" same thing.

As for the attempted 6000 post count insult, you've got me there, you fish-in-a-barrel shooter, you. Living in Dallas contributes to high post counts, unfortunately. However, I do not need to "get out more" or whatever. I get exactly as much out of climbing as I put into.

i believe kansasclimber already started a thread about how great he is. its along the lines of "im the shiznit and i send Vmadhard and ill warm up on your proj.". Ive also noticed a few of his other posts containing ample use of numbers. Ive already used up my ratings today trophying the "eww gross" thread, but if i could still rate kansasclimber would be sitting in a pile of poo. get a life, forget about the numbers, and go climb for fun.

hmmmm... what to say.. I guess all I can say is that numbers motivate me. I’m sorry, but im competitive. I want to be better than you (in context). And deep sown, I truly believe many feel this way. Now I do have fun when climbing. I don’t know why anyone would ever do anything if it did not bring them happiness. Climbing has done more for me than any other activity I have ever done. I love the sport, that’s why I do it. And if you look at all the other sport, which I know that climbing is not "every other sport"; there is a goal in mind, whether it be beat the other team, setting a record, or placing first. It is human nature to act the way that I am. I guess I feel this way, and so do others, but no one wants to say so. I DO NOT CLIMB FOR GRADES, I CLIMB FOR THE CHALLENGE. And that’s for every one of my posts I have ever posted. I’m a nice guy that will climb with anyone. Without saying one thing about how good or bad you climb. Or what grades you can do. I could care less. One of my new year’s resolutions was this, and quote right out of my log: " To help others reach their goals in climbing, and to show them their true potential for climbing. I have always been like this. And if you would care to ask the people that climb with me, please do. I love climbing and I love grades. For me they intertwine.

Grades are simply a way to get me motivated to get to the gym that is all. On rock, I will climb any line that looks appealing, regardless of grade.

And those "bouldering grades were from RMNP, I think those specific problems were put up by Tommy", If you must know..

:nono:

hmmmmm, i dont believe challenge involves truckloads of spray and a number attatched to everything. also, if you do climb just for challenge, you obviously wouldnt care about the quality of the line. you have contradicted yourself.

If you did actually care about quality of the routes you do, you wouldnt feel the need to put a number on all of them. It just seems to me that your a little to caught up with grades, i noticed that almost every picture in your profile had the grade next to the title. This seems truly noobish, and screams "hey, this is me doing a sick mad nasty move on this V9 that i got in 4 tries, wich is better then you could do so im better than biatch." it appears you are using pictures as bragging rights instead of art.

[almost] Every aspiring climber goes thru the stage in wich grades lose much of their importance, and are then only used to warn of the difficulty, commitment, etc. i, along with much of the climbing community would agree grades arnt everything, but whatever, do what you want. climbing is a big sport wich lets u make many choices, so choose what is important to you. although i have nothing against u personally, im just glad u live in kansas and u wont be spraying anywhere near me. happy climbing.

I climb with Kansasclimber (Steven) at least twice a week at the local gym – which is pretty much the only place to climb around here. The kid is good, and will probably get a lot better. He trains hard and lives and breathes climbing. Unfortunately for you folks here at RC.com the gym is operated by a couple of 30 something Trad climbers. The gym regulars are, to a large degree, either relative beginners or old school Trad climbers. Neither of these two groups take notice of what Sharma is doing, the latest bouldering DVD or who just completed a 14d sport route in France. Not one of us owns a beanie.

How does this effect all of you? Steven has no place to discuss his goals of bouldering V12 (none of us here know what that is). He has no place to talk of aspirations of climbing 14a (how does a regular Joe equalize two stoppers amidst the 14a crux on pitch 5 anyway). Steven can normally hold our attention on these topics for about a minute. Then we lose interest. If he continues, we send him to an unoccupied wall in the gym. Should even consider “spraying”, he has to go home. So he comes here. While he is generally a humble guy, he certainly enjoys getting you guys wound up.

So just remember next time you see his post regarding his glorious on-sight of a bolted 12, and you’re tempted to flame him, just remember he’s probably already gotten an ear full from us.

I am currently climbing 11s and I would like to be climbing solid 12s and maybe 13s as this next season progresses. Im currently training in the gym working on sustained 5.12 climbs.

I guess for over coming various barriers for me has been to pay attension more. Concentrate on what I am doing rather than all the cluttered thoughts. I find if I centre myself on climbing well I will.

It's hard not to see competition as a futile and unfulfilling motivation. A prison of sorts. Even if your the best in the world you won't be for long. And if your the best at your local gym, well I guess your world is pretty small. There are cooler reasons for doing things than winning or being the "best".
