In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: ... There should be a couple of pics in my profile shortly, and I'll add more with the TR... Ouch. The beauty of that place hurts. Reeeeally hurts... These were the pics from Val di Mello that you've been looking at! ;) Both. There are two pix of Calanque too.... And I'm about to kill someone on May 26th, when everybody is happy climbing while I have to keep my unfortunate bum in the office for nothing. - Daniel

In reply to: Anyway... What's up for the weekend? Since the weather will be exceptional, we got perfect conditions for the noobs we are going to take out. First class of the year. WOOOT! Since there are just three of them... now it won't be the big profit, but I think we'll have some fun and the gas is paid. Wish me luck that they don't try to kill me or themselfs. Since my Ex-Ex participates with her new boyfriend... if something goes wrong, I don't think that any judge would believe in my innocence 8^) Have a nice one! - Daniel Have fun Danno, and don't let your bro lead everything... he won't be around in Pfalz, remember? Is this the ex-ex we met in Berlin? If so, I'm sure nobody will be killing anybody. That girl was cool! Paolo and I will be (unhappily) climbing the laundry-mountain that is blocking our bathroom door at the moment. As heiko says... he will lead, and make me clean. :? ... ...

In reply to: Have fun Danno, and don't let your bro lead everything... he won't be around in Pfalz, remember? He'll not be there this weekend... in fact I will be the only one leading on Saturday. And this is a lead climbing class... Fortunatly I know those peeps, the crag and all its easy routes, so no worry. For the Pfalz... I thought Heiko would be my rope gun?!? If not, there should be enough protectable staircases for me. I don't mind leading as long as there's pro every half a meter :D
In reply to: Is this the ex-ex we met in Berlin? If so, I'm sure nobody will be killing anybody. That girl was cool! Nope, the one before her (you met my ex). But don't worry, I'm pretty picky when it comes to girlfriends. They're mostly cool, at least the ones I'm still in contact with are really close friends.

I hope my coworkers will excuse my olfactorial impact on the working atmosphere... - Daniel

In reply to: In reply to: For the Pfalz... I thought Heiko would be my rope gun?!? Oooooh, I didn't know you were willing to use a bb-gun!  I'd be comfi with bow & arrows, as long as it gets me to the summit  To be serious, I really wanna get some trad leads under my belt. Hey, I paid hundreds of Euronics for the 'rack' (okay, some lonesome assorted pieces of metal), it should pay off some day. And after Sardegna it looks as if I could get my brain working up to the beginning of 'real' sport climbing. Should be enough to lead some (hilarious easy) trad routes too. We'll see... - Daniel

This is a historic moment. I hope you all read this:
In reply to: For the Pfalz... I thought Heiko would be my rope gun?!?    Daniel, it's obvious you haven't climbed with me yet. About 80% percent of my private time I spend kissing people's @sses so I always have enough rope guns around for MYSELF. But I will try to do my very best.  I get to choose the routes, though, all right? How did the course go??? GD, Paolo, how's Laundry Mountain doing? I spent the weekend in Germany, so I know that the weather was awesome ;) Christian, got to climb? UA? You still around?

Hi Heiko! Early bird, huh? Had an awesome weekend with really nice people. They already had a bunch of indoor-leads under their belt but  there where a lot of small life savers to teach... All went perfect: Nobody got hurt and the guys are ready now to hit the rock without me. Yesterday one of the eleves took a 24 feeter for free, but all what's left are some light burn marks in my belay hand. He should trust me and the gear now  For the Pfalz... I think we'll get along pretty fine. I imagine roping up and lead some fine routes just to have T&P tell us that we just managed to onsight the approach to their next project :D - Daniel

Howdy! Well, Saturday I got (ahem) 'cajoled' into climbing at Beez. Truly, the weather was amazing for BXL. We did about 7 routes, the sun was shining and a nice breeze blowing. The highlight was, as usual, my cursing and swearing and scaring small children while top-roping a 6c with 4 vertical big-hand pinches in a row. Did I finish it? No. I tried spanking the rock but it spanked back and - I lost. It wasn't pretty, we'll leave it at that. Laundry Mountain was our 'proj' for Sunday :? ; we finally summited around noon and managed to finish the descent of the whole pile by 3-ish. It seemed that we had packed it in and escaped an epic. Unfortunatley, when we got back home we realized that there was still some choss behind the bathroom door. Ah, well... we'll deal with it next weekend (most likely by going to Fontainebleau and avoiding bathroom mountaineering altogether). Sounds like you guys had nice weekends. What's on the menu for the 13-14? :D Taz

yes, i'm still around. Went to les vosges near the strasse-burg this w-end, sampled some red 'grès' that promissed 'fissures comme à Utah' on saturday, interesting but difficult - i believe i cheated one way or another while leading all the routes there - starting with a 6a and finishing with a 7a. The Utah crack was very hard, in both, 6b variation that i managed, and 7a that i did not. The day finished much better with a dinner in Colmar - 'capitale des vins d'Alsace' with pretentions on belgium covered by a nice stinky canal in the middle of it. Yesterday despite the gloomy weather forecast we went to Martisnswand, the granite paradise. First off, i only had sandals for the approach and there already was 1m of snow to start with... Cold and bitter we started the climbing on smth that looked rather like a big pile of stones than a kingdom of promissed rock faces. Topo photographers are sure gifted! Our objective for the day was 'extreme oction' - nice name for an overhanging monster, that my leader did on aid - and i had to climb a fixed rope as all my other capacities were totally useless. Thanks to a well-placed cam i also managed to get through its second pitch of 'toit d'anthologie'. Conclusion - aid rules! The day finished with a nice shower that left my partner wet on top of the wall, and me wet and with packs on the bottom, still having to get up (in my sandals, grrr  ) through a snowy couloir to the top. The finish of adventure was today when i had to deal with numerous ticks on most unpleasant parts of the body discovered on a perilous search in my bathroom... ************ plans for next w-end? Napoleonean, as always - maybe try a shot at Cham' if the weather gods are good, maybe a shot at Grenoble if they are better there - or just simply stay put and fight with rock in freyer.

Ciao, a weekend that fell apart.... First the plan was to do some skialpinsim http://spinphys.org/dames.jpg But the weather forecast was to bad to even make it a try.... Saturday rained away and thus I spent doing completely useless stuff like cleaning the apartment, etc.... Well sometimes you have to do this aswell... Btw UA I had some hours checking topos and will give a respond. For Sunday the weather in the morning was better but not perfect and there was a climbing plan in Orco which fell apart and then trying to look for other options I was forced to not do some climbing  Well instead I took the MTB and went for a three hours drive and today I feel some new muscles. However it seemed that all of you were pretty busy, nice to hear. Now I need to make the trip suggestions ready... Saluti Christian

I'm an old geezer, and I've put in several 12 and 14 hour days behind the wheel lately. I think it comes from her time in the US where all the distances are obscene. Oh wait, that can't be, since she'd always sleep rather than drive! Fissures a la Utah? This I've gotta see! Photos required, please! G:lol:
