Okay start listing what you want to accomplish this year. I'll start...not necessarily in order: 1. Trad lead up to 5.9 2. Sport lead up to 5.11 3. Injury Free Year (messed up my knee last year..had surgery) 3. Lose five pounds :D 4. Get Back in Good Shape 5. Work on Mental Focus/Fear Factor 6. Work on Gear Placements 7. Work on More Elaborate Anchor Setups 8. Cathedral Peak 9. Royal Arches (maybe) 10. Trip to Red Rocks 11. Lead Life's a Bitch then you Marry One (this weekend hopefully) 12. Work on jamming That's a start for now.

1. Take better climbing photos. 2. No specific grade goals for sport, trad, ice, mixed or alpine. I feel happier and as though I get more out of climbing when I stop concentrating on the numbers. 3. At least one more winter alpine route this season. 4. At a minimum, climbing trips to Thailand, Skaha, Bugaboos, Red River Gorge, J-tree. 5. Force my partner to spend one evening at the gym refreshing our rescue techniques. I keep putting this off and worry someday I'll regret it. 6. Climb safely. I think that's the general gist of it...

Work on my fear of falling, and as a direct result (hopefully) gain a better lead head. I suppose after that all else will follow.

1) keep on bouldering and get better on overhangs 2) get to a larger gym to lead and get comfortable with the act of falling 3) learn to ice climb 4) get solid on 5.9 trad, find some 5.10s that inspire me to lead them on gear 5) get into the 5.11 grades for sport climbs 6) get a tighter set of abs to look good in a sports bra ;) 7) keep on doing injury prevension weights at the gym

Hmm, let's see, in no particular order: 1. Eat less artificial sweetener, drink more water. 2. Build strength and endurance (train in gym 2-3X/wk) 3. Take lead class and get strong enough to get lead certified in gym. 3. Get more experience leading moderate trad (Lover's Leap) 4. Get to Yosemite a few times. Cathedral. Climb in the Valley (I've lived in California my whole life and never climbed in the Valley, that's not right.) 5. Stay safe and injury free! Hey rvega, how's the weather in J Tree? It's been raining for like a million years here in norcal. I might actually take a trip down there the weekend of the 14th-16th. Hope "Life's a B1tch ..." treats you well! :D

And we're keeping our fingers crossed for a sunny weekend in Jtree. Weather reports look good so far...30's to 60s and sunny skies. We leave Friday am and hopefully will get a spot in HV. I'm getting psyched for Life's a Btch etc! Whoo hoo. Come to SoCal!

Here are some of mine: Set climbing goals and not climbing limits Lead 5.8 trad by early spring Place lots of gear and set lots of anchors Get comfortable with hanging belays Climb with more awesome women (very inspiring for me!) Onsight 5.11 sport and lead some 12's Take more safe falls on sport (that means I'm challenging myself) Don't compare myself to other climbers (I am who I am) Boulder more Don't get frustrated and forgive myself when I don't follow through with a goal Ooooh.... and have lots of tent sex!

In reply to: Ooooh.... and have lots of tent sex! Inquiring minds want to know: Does size really matter -- i.e. does that occasional single pole bivy tent leave you feeling refreshed in the morning, or do you secretly yearn for something more substantial? What offers more protection, single wall or double wall? Is it considered promiscuous to "do it" with one of those mondo 8-person expedition base camp tents? Does a vestibule heighten the overall experience or just get in the way? Do you see any "performance" differences between 3-season and 4-season tents? Do you seam seal the tent before use, or just deal with the occasional moisture issues? Do you have a preference for shapes -- dome, A-frame, tube -- or are they all good? Do you have a preference for doors? I suppose some like only one door, but others may prefer multiple entry ways. And have you discussed these desires with your better half?

1) GET OUTSIDE. I've literally been outdoors 5 times in 2 years of climbing, none since Thanksgiving '04. What can I say, it's my own fault... :? 2) Do at least 20 minutes of cardio before climbing at the gym. 3) Lose about 20 lbs of middle and lower body weight. 4) Be able to lead at least 5 routes, comfortably, per gym session.

I think I should allow myself to take less climbing trips! Give my pocketbook a bit of time to recover in between!

lead more trad, get comfortable w/placing gear & making anchors and start challenging myself send a 12! (sport) Having proven to myself that I can actually lead at that level, now I just want to build my endurance and mental strength so I can actually send something. learn some self-rescue, maybe take a class Just climb more!!! 2005 was my best year yet for climbing, I'm hoping that I can at least match that for 2006. Have a couple of trips planned and I'm excited to see new places, try new stuff and just be on the rock!

1) Get a steady cardio routine going that my knees can handle. I think this is key to core strength, and better climbing. (Doing it, going good, didn't wait for jan 1) 2) Back into PT for knee, serious work. (Doing that too, so far so good) 3) Quit smoking once and for all. (ditto) 4) Eat better 5) Be nice to myself 6) Climb all the peaks I stare at almost every day and hav'nt been up yet. (Not yet, knee, knee, knee first) 7) Ultimate goal for 2006, get in shape for 3 weeks in Chamonix in spring '07. (Or my backyard, it's probably just as good) 8) Pay off credit cards so I can max then out again for above trip BUT, simply put just climb, something, anything! (Sheesh!)

1) Summit Cobb with my kids and hubby 2) Summit Rainier with out my kids and hubby 3) Spend at least 8 weekends at the City of Rocks (like in 2004, which was about 10 or 12) 4) Summit the Middle Teton with my kids and hubby 5) Go camping in the snow, far away from the old Trooper 6) Get on some ice 7) Get use to my backcountry ski's (that I found under the Christmas tree along with my probe and shovel). 8) Do another poetry reading 9) Do enough business to fund all of the above 10) Relearn the clarinet and saxophone, learn the harmonica (it's easier to pack) 11) oh, and spend many weekends on the slopes with my kids before they don't want me around anymore. :robert: phew! I have my work cut out for me I think.
